Summer is almost here, and it’s time to head to the pool, visit new parks and playgrounds, or maybe even go on vacation. It’s also a great time for your child to spend some time reading over the summer as well! Thankfully there are a number of Summer Reading Challenges in our area that will encourage your child to read, reward them for doing so, and hopefully grow and continue their love of reading. I’ve listed the 2024 Summer Reading Challenges in our area, so find the closest program (s) and start reading! When you visit a Library to sign up, don’t forget to check out some books to get the reading started! Most of these programs are for all ages, including families with young kids who are not yet independent readers!
Some of the Challenges have not confirmed dates and program details yet, this list will be updated once the information is released!

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read a designated number of books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.
Happy Reading!
