Are you looking for an upcoming 5k race, or maybe want to do a Turkey Trot/Fun Run on Thanksgiving Weekend? I have highlighted a few family friendly races coming up. Maybe you want to bring your kids to cheer you on, have them run alongside you, or even with you in the stroller. Most of these races allow strollers, I provided the information I could find under additional details of each race. These local races are great for all walkers or runners and a lot of fun! Why not give one (or more) of them a try?
Date: Sunday, November 20
Location: McFerson Commons, Downtown Columbus
Start Time: 7:30am
Distance: 5k, 10k and 15k options
Additional information: I love the Hot Chocolate Race! It’s a fun event, and I always enjoy running a route that takes you through downtown. It is a large race, so keep that in mind if you will be running with kids. If you are running with kids, I recommend starting near the back where it’s not as crowded. A chocolate lover’s oasis awaits at the post-run party! Celebrate your accomplishment with a finisher mug that includes fondue, dippables, and our very own hot chocolate, while checking out our exciting vendors and listening to great tunes! Kids will love the chocolate part!
**There are no baby carriers or strollers of any sort allowed on any of the courses.**
Date: Saturday, December 10
Location: Columbus Zoo
Start time: 9am
Distance: Chick-Fil-A Kid’s Fun Run, 1 mile Family Walk, or 5k
Additional information: This is a fantastic race! It was my daughter’s first 5k that she ran with me last year and it is so fun. Can you beat a race where you get to run through the zoo before it opens for the day? (note: the first part of the 5k course last year was through the parking lot of the zoo but we did finish the race inside the zoo, and got to run by a lot of the animals). Paid registration does include zoo admission that day if you are not a member and Chick-Fil-A provides the post race food. We have already registered for this one again and we can’t wait!
